Illinois Trophy Bowhunters

Illinois Trophy Bowhunters has run free-range whitetail hunts out of Petersburg, in west-central Illinois’ Golden Triangle region, since 1991. Owners Brian Bergmann and Steve Phelps built the operation specifically around rut-season hunting, offering archery, rifle, and combination hunts timed to when bucks are moving most. The Golden Triangle’s farmland is some of the most consistent big-buck country in the Midwest, and this operation markets itself directly on that reputation, with references to 200-inch class whitetails among the deer taken off this ground. Turkey hunts round out the spring calendar. Hunting lodges are available on-site for hunters who want to stay close to the stands rather than commute in daily. With more than three decades on the same Illinois ground, the operation has had time to learn exactly how deer move through this specific stretch of the Golden Triangle across a full rut cycle.
