Topnotch Outfitters

Topnotch Outfitters is a private big-game hunting outfitter based in Capitan, New Mexico, operating since 1998 across roughly 70,000 acres of combined ranches in the Capitan Mountains foothills, Game Management Unit 37. The terrain ranges from 6,000 to 8,000 feet in elevation, mixing rolling hills and canyons covered in juniper and pinon pine with open grassy flats, laced with roads that reach most of the hunting country. Their focus is guided elk hunting by bow, rifle, or muzzleloader, alongside turkey, pronghorn, mule deer, and exotics such as oryx. Hunters typically see 260 to 330-inch bulls, with larger animals possible. Lodging is provided at a house on the outskirts of Capitan, roughly 10 to 45 minutes from the hunting grounds, with cell service, WiFi access, and modern amenities. The operation welcomes kids and offers fully guided hunts.
